Barbara Burns is an internationally renowned weaver from the USA who is visiting the UK this autumn to deliver a very special Tapestry Weaving class. Barbara is especially well known for her woven burlesque images and portraiture and also more recently for the development of 3-dimensional art tapestry garments. It is these specialist techniques for design and creation of 3-dimensional shapes in woven tapestry that will be the focus of the UK workshops. The masterclass starts with an evening presentation from Barbara, about her work, followed by two full days of instruction.
The booking fee includes tuition, free access to a weaversbazaar's range of yarns, lunches and refreshments. Participants will need to cover their own accommodation and evening meals. On booking, confirmation with full joining instructions will be sent.
Barbara Burns is an internationally recognised tapestry artist whose newest figurative tapestries exploring sexuality and exposure are influenced by her experience as a burlesque and belly dancer. You can read more about her and see examples of her work on her web site.
Barbara Burns' visit to the UK is supported through a collaboration between weaversbazaar and Heallreaf, the international tapestry exhibition.
