These long bobbins are handcrafted by artist and musical instrument maker Andrew Dickinson, with a high quality of precision and finish they measure 210mm/8” long and weigh approximately 30g / 1oz

This bobbin is made from a very interesting material that isn't technically wood but related to grasses and bamboos, called Black Palm.  It`s appearance is different from wood as it has no growth rings like woods but it produces a fine bobbin.  It is fitted with a brass tip and a casein ivory collar (not ivory but a resin created from milk).
